My Facebook Account Was Disabled

by kb

This morning I awoke in horror to discover that my Facebook account was disabled. I could feel my heart start to beat faster and the sweat begin to form upon my brow as I registered the magnitude of the situation.

My first reaction was blame. “Too many new friends? Who does Facebook think they are to make judgments about my social life??” I felt sick as I thought of all the wonderful new connections I’ve recently made on Facebook that felt instantly “lost”.

I then remembered that there are four more days to go before we can joyously celebrate the end of the current Mercury retrograde. This astrological cycle has been known to throw all areas of life involving communication into a downward spiral.

My Facebook Account was Disabled – Damn Mercury Retrograde!

Mercury retrograde is a period that astrologers suggest we use to retreat inward and reevaluate our thought processes. In doing so, we have the opportunity to retain the thoughts and beliefs that serve us and discard the ones that don’t. When we resist this important period of introspection, the shadow side of Mercury rears its’ ugly head and manifests as computer breakdowns, accidents, and other types of miscommunication. Intuitive astrologer Robert Ohotto stresses that all of these types of events are “designed to help you realize you’re not in control, and that a deeper design is trying to emerge into your consciousness.”

Unfortunately I’ve been too busy for introspection during these last two weeks of the mercury retrograde, because I’ve been preoccupied with making new friends on Facebook.

As a result, having my Facebook account disabled was a great big slap in the face from the “cosmic trickster” himself. Like a kid in the corner with my dunce cap on, I reluctantly sat down to do some serious introspection. The first issue I knew I needed to examine was this dependency I have upon the external world for my sense of connection. The explosive, automatic reaction I experienced when my Facebook account was disabled was a clear sign that to a certain degree, I tend to look outside of myself for a sense of connection.

My Facebook Account was Disabled – My Alternate Network

The Truth is that we are all inherently connected to each other, our higher selves, and the Universe via our union in consciousness. Beyond the temporary realm of time and space, we are all One; a dynamic energy field of love that permeates everything in existence. I realized that my true sense of connection depends upon this solid foundation; not upon the number of friends I have on Facebook. Finding our true connection is as simple as looking within.

The second issue I’m overcoming is one we all experience, which is the yearning for external approval. I’ve noticed lately that whenever I set out to do something, I always want to be “famous” at it. For example, I can’t just be a singer; I want to be a famous singer. I can’t just be a blogger; I want to be a famous blogger. The root of this state of ego consciousness is unfortunately not a desire to be of service, but instead a yearning for others to love, accept, and approve of me.

The soul never yearns to be “famous”, although it does seek to help as many others that it can during its’ time upon the planet. I know for sure that in chasing notoriety with a needy state of mind, we will never experience the fame we’re searching for. Ironically, we don’t need to look for external approval if it already exists within, and until it does we’re unable to create it in our external reality. Approval is something you give to yourself; at which point you don’t care about fame anymore anyway.

Well, hopefully the god of Facebook will smile upon me and my account will be re-enabled. Until then, I’m on a Facebook retreat. My inbox was quite full when my account was zapped, so apologies for all the messages that have been lost in the vastness of cyberspace. Please feel free to email me with any thoughts or comments.

In conclusion, I feel the need to close today’s blog with an enlivening quote, as I’ll admit that my introductory quote was not my most inspiring. Today’s quote is from Science of Mind founder Ernest Holmes:

“Life is a mirror and will reflect back to the thinker what he thinks into it.”

Please tell everyone on Facebook I say hello. ☺

***Update June 20 – My Facebook account was re-enabled. Feel free to add me. :)
