Today I am off to the city of sparkles (Las Vegas) to help out behind the scenes of Steve Pavlina’s Conscious Growth Workshop.
Which means I don’t have time to write a big long blog post.
Which means I think it’s about time to post another recipe.
So hold on to your hats my friends, today I’m going to teach you how to make nut butter!!
I started making my own nut butter a few months ago because I was sick of trying to find nut butter at the grocery store that didn’t contain added sugar, oils, or preservatives.
I eat this nut butter every single day. I’m even taking some to Vegas for fear of what might happen if I don’t eat it. When I’m eating my nut butter I envision the oils going straight to my knees to moisturize my joints from the inside out (my knees snap, crackle and pop every time I bend them. Yes, just like Rice Krispies.)
Anyhoo, here are your ingredients. Feel free to substitute different nuts. I try to switch it up a bit but I always seem to come back to almonds and walnuts. The chia seeds make it crunchy and add Omega-3s fats and antioxidants.
(Disclaimer – I highly suggest that you only make one cup of nut butter at a time. If you double up the recipe, it will take twice as long and you will burn out your food processor. I’m speaking from experience here so pay attention.)
Homemade Nut Butter by KB
½ cup almonds
½ cup walnuts
1 tbsp chia seeds
Dump your nuts in the food processor. Set your kitchen timer for 12 minutes. Yes, this recipe requires a bit of patience on your part. While you’re waiting, practice handstands in your kitchen.

After 4 minutes the nuts will be crumbly. Keep the faith. Scrape the sides of the food processor with a spatula every few minutes.

After 8 minutes the nuts will begin to look more buttery. It’s still not ready, but you’re beginning to get an idea of where all this is going.

After 12 minutes the oils will really start to be released and the nut butter will be shiny. This is how you know it is done.

Add the chia seeds and pulse the food processor until they are mixed in. Taste it and add some liquid stevia if you want it to be sweeter.

Proudly spread your homemade nut butter on Ezekiel bread (my fav) or dip some apples in it. You can also spread it on celery or use it in smoothies.

Wasn’t that easy? Cheers to nuts!!
Stay tuned for Vegas updates!!
