Are you living your life purpose?
“The purpose of life is a life of purpose.”
~ Robert Byrne
Every human being on earth is born with a life purpose. Your unique gifts and talents are as deeply engrained in you as your DNA, and have the potential to lead you not only to your highest purpose but also to your most fulfilled expression of life. Staying on the path of your life purpose not only serves others as you deliver your gifts, but it also serves the overall well being of the planet because you live in a state of happiness, joy, and abundance.
Your primary life purpose will always be to wake up to the fact that you are more than you appear to be on the physical level. Your secondary purpose will begin to emerge when you realize that this deeper part of you wishes to express itself. This “higher” Self yearns for creative expression and by using all your unique capabilities, it expresses in a way that no one else on the planet can replicate.
If you don’t know whether you’re living your life purpose, chances are that you are not. People who are not on the path of their life purpose live in a constant state of negativity, which ranges from a subtle feeling of discontent to the depths of despair. Perhaps they have even achieved everything that our external world says is necessary for an accomplished life: the money, the job, the relationship, the possessions, the car, etc….. but they still feel that looming feeling of unease. The real cause of their discontent is that they are out of alignment with their life purpose.
Many people have asked me how to find out what their life purpose is, and it’s actually quite easy. Do what you love. If you don’t know what you love, asking yourself three simple questions will narrow it down pretty fast.
The first question is, what did you enjoy and what did you aspire to be when you were a child? As children, we dream freely of possibility. Thankfully, we can’t yet grasp the illusion of limitation that assaults our minds as adults. Children spend all their spare time immersed in their talents out of pure enjoyment. They like to draw, so they draw. They don’t care about the outcome or what anyone else thinks about the outcome. What they aspire to become involves what they enjoy doing, not how much money they want to make. So pretend you’re nine, and ask yourself: “what do I want to be when I grow up?”
The second question is, if you won all the money in the world tomorrow, how would you spend your time? Many people shy away from pursuing what they really want to do because they’re afraid they can’t make money at it. The only reason you can’t make money doing what you love is because somewhere along the line, YOU DECIDED TO THINK THAT WAY. Don’t you think it’s about time you changed that belief? A belief is only a thought you keep thinking. Re-programming your thoughts with meditation and affirmations will change your beliefs.
The third question is, if you were told you only have 6 – 12 months to live, what would you do with yourself? Confusion arises when you spend all your energy planning for the future. Quit living for tomorrow, and realize the precious moments that make up your life are ticking away now. What do you feel like doing today, in this moment? If not now, when??
You’ll know when you begin to live your life purpose when you feel like you could do whatever you’re doing for the rest of your life, for free. Of course it may be scary at first if you have absolutely no idea how your income will come, but you don’t have to jump in all at once. How can you pursue your passion part time just to get the ball rolling?
Finally, if you can override any fear that emerges with the joy you feel in doing what you really love, finances will not be an issue. This is because joy is synonymous with prosperity, two naturally harmonic qualities of the Universe. You will attract support while pursuing your life purpose, because you’ll be attracting the well-being you’re emanating.
In the words of James Arthur Ray, “when would NOW be a good time to start??”
