I’ve been a vegetarian since 1991 and fell in love with the raw vegan diet in 2007. I believe in the power of raw, organic, plant based food to heal our bodies and our planet. Please see the bottom of this page for a list of some of my favorite vegan recipes on my blog!
I love to inspire and educate people about the benefits of eating vegetarian food. Scientific evidence suggests that vegetarian diets are consistently associated with lower blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, less obesity and consequently less heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer. Translation: a healthy, vegetarian diet will make your body feel awesomely healthy!!!
And did you know that going vegetarian is the easiest and quickest way to lower your carbon footprint, reduce pollution, and save energy and water? In other words, eating a vegetarian diet is a powerful way to bring healing to the Earth.
My advice for those interested in going vegetarian is to take it one step at a time. Don’t feel guilty if you are unable to go from carnivore to raw vegan overnight. If you currently eat meat, try to incorporate a few vegetarian meals into your routine. If you’re vegetarian, incorporate some vegan dishes. And if you’re already vegan, why not try some new raw vegan recipes? In my experience, slow transitions create permanent changes.
My favorite raw vegan resource is my friend Darlene’s transition program, Go Raw in 30 Days. I met Darlene in Las Vegas in 2010, and her radiant energy and youthful appearance inspired me to eat 100% raw for over 6 months! We have stayed close friends ever since.
I currently follow a high-raw, vegetarian diet that is rich in leafy greens, veggies and sweet fruits. In the summertime, I follow a low-fat raw vegan diet as recommended by Douglas Graham in his book, The 80/10/10 Diet.
